How to install KDE Plasma Desktop on Ubuntu 20.04

In this blog I’ll try to explain How to install KDE Plasma Desktop on Ubuntu 20.04. To install the Plasma desktop you need to check the following things before begin:

  1. tasksel
  2. Privileged access to your Linux system as root or via the sudo command.
  3. Ubuntu 20.04

Tasksel is a Debian/Ubuntu tool that installs multiple related packages as a co-ordinated “task” onto your system.

This function is similar to that of meta-packages, and, in fact, most of the tasks available from tasksel are also available as meta-packages from the Ubuntu package managers (such as Synaptic Package Manager or KPackageKit).

Installation:

Type the following command to install the tasksel

$ sudo apt-get install tasksel

Now to run the run the taskel you need to

$ sudo tasksel

Now from the list select as your need. I select lamp server and tab [ok].

Now wait for the installation to be completed it may take a while.

After this run the following command to get the needed repositories of tasksel.

$ sudo tasksel install kubuntu-desktop

Now you have to wait along while to tasksel download and install the plasma desktop.

SDDM configuration dialogbox open here. Click [ok] to continue.

Now it says configure SSDM choose sddm and tab [ok] to continue.

Now restart your system to make the changes appears.

After reboot you see the following screen now select the plasma desktop from desktop session selection menu.
