Question is HOW TO CHECK IF YOUR CENTOS IS 32 BITS OR 64 BITS ? How you can check it on other Linux flavors?

In centOS
Open terminal “Ctrl+Alt+T” as a shortcut and a terminal window will appear and run the following command:

uname -a

After you run the above command which gives output something like:

“….i686 i686 i386….”

In the terminal you see some number like above.

What does that mean?

“That means you are running an i686 kernel. That is, your CentOS is 32-bit. A 64-bit kernel will display x86_64.”

If you want to check the version is 32 bits or 64 bits you have to use the CAT command to do so like mention below:

Open the terminal and run the following command.

$ cat /etc/os-release

After running the command you see the above image which shows output of the ubuntu version:

“Ubuntu 18.04 LTS version”

This command is to know the LTS version of the Ubuntu.

To check if the Ubuntu is 32 bits or 64 bits run the following command:

$ lscpu

The above picture shows the output of the command. It says 32 bit operating system of Ubuntu and version is 18.04 LTS.
