Description: In this post we’ve discuss the issue while sending mail via Postfix on CentOS the Mail server were not sending some of the emails due to the too large size of the file /var/mail/root. In my case the size was about 49MB. The error I see is in the log file: “cannot update mailbox … error writing message: File too large”.
To solve the issue you need to follow these two simple steps as following:
The postfix has some default setting with the size “mail_size_limit” which is by default is 50MB, so the issue is because of this default size.
Open /etc/postfix/main.cf and change the value of “mail_size_limit ” to zero which look like “mailbox_maxsize_limit = 0”.
