Few basic commands for centos

Summary: This is a short post regarding few basic commands for centos.

Find How Much Disk Space Is Being Used. I want to check the /var directory for space usage.

cd /var/
du -hc –max-depth=1
du -sh

I want to check what are my repository list and my server is using how much repositories.

How to show all repos

yum repolist all

Some time we concern about the server updated data to be read by clients. For that we have to clear cache of the server.

yum clean all

Some time we are concern about the specific application installed version. show installed version of gd.

yum list installed | grep gd

This is very basic commands normally we used as a sysadmin. I will be updating the post with other command in future.
